BOXING: Big Fight LIVE - Haye v Valuev

Can Haye do it? Haye v Valuev is live on Sky Box Office (photo - bbc sport)

Tomorrow night in Germany, British Heavyweight David Haye is aiming to become the new Heavyweight sensation by beating Russian giant Nikolai Valuev. The bout which is taking place at the Arena Nürnberger Versicherung in Nuremburg will be live on Sky Box Office (David v Goliath). It's an explosive match-up pitting the former undisputed Cruiserweight World champion Haye against the current WBA Heavyweight king Valuev. It promises to be one hell of a fight, considering this is only Haye's 2nd fight at Heavyweight and the man in the opposite corner is quite literally the 7ft 'Beast from the East'.

In the Cruiserweight division, we saw the Haymaker go over to Paris and destroy the home-boy Jean-Marc Mormeck in 7 rounds before dismantling Enzo Macarinelli in 2 rounds in a one-sided 'Battle of Britain' at the o2 in London. Haye is confident of putting on another show for the German crowd and aiming to bring life to a Heavyweight division which has been calling out for a saviour since the retirement of Lennox Lewis. While the task facing Haye in Germany is enormous, I have to agree with Jonny Nelson when he says that this is perhaps the more easier fight for Haye when it comes to winning a world title. The other titles in this division are held by the Klitschko brothers and fighting those two is something Haye can look forward to if he can pull it off tomorrow night. Valuev is an awkward customer who has never been floored and only lost once on points to Ruslan Chagaev. He was also, more recently, dominated over 12 rounds by Evander Holyfield in a fight many thought he lost, only for the judges to hand it to him. Winning of points isn't Haye's mantra as he plans to floor the Russian giant (surely an impossible task?)

Whatever you do, don't miss this one. It's the fight that has got everyone talking as the fight that can bring the Heavyweight division back to life. It will also liven up the British Heavyweight boxing scene which has been tarnished somewhat by the lack of World class operators. Haye, in only his 2nd fight in this division is going in for the kill. Can he do it? The umaronline.com exclusive poll is asking: What will be the outcome of David Haye v Nokolai Valuev? As always umaronline.com would like to wish David Haye all the best in his quest to become the WBA Heavyweight world champion.
