BLOG: Where were we...

At www.umaronline.com, we probably focus on web exclusives like no other personal website, but the occasional blog post is always a good idea to gage the mood. So, where were we? Well, since the last blog post - Provocative, senseless and deeply offensive - Should the US intervene to stop Koran burning Pastor? - 1 month ago, there have been developments. It's time for our regular catch-up.

Perhaps the most significant development has been the start of my MA Broadcast Journalism course at City University, London. So far, it has been an immense experience of many highs and relatively few lows. City's global reputation in journalism education cannot be questioned and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to hone my journalistic skills at such a credible institution. The journalist of the future must be equipped to inform the public on many different mediums, be it radio, TV or the internet and my course will teach me those valuable skills. Furthermore, learning from some of the finest journalists to have ever graced the media industry is a great privilege, as their passion for telling a story is second to none. The students, themselves, have dreams and ambitions too. From war reporting to sports commentating, everyone has a background of good knowledge and a destination to reach. My journey is no different and I'm looking forward to reaching my goals through studying this NCTJ (National Council for Training of Journalists) qualification.

Elsewhere, a return to online activism is essential and the list of planned exclusives is currently being compiled. So, coming soon on www.umaronline.com - more events, more interviews and more stories. For the latest developments and much more, follow me on twitter (@umaronline) - and get in touch.
